~Our Call~

This poem I did some time ago, hope you guys like it!

Blow wind, we will still stand

All together, hand in hand.

Nothing will be able to stop us,

We will win the world, it is a must!

Blow wind we will not fall

We will stand to obey his call!

To reach the world, to love and save,

To pull them out of their dark cave.

Where sin and fear do abound,

We will still stand, we’ll not fall down!

For His call we must obey,

We must go out, we cannot stay!

To win the world for him we will

To teach them love, instead to cheat or kill.

To show they can and will stand!

To make them part of this mighty band.

Forward we’ll march, to battle we’ll go!

To reach the world and give them the words of Mo.

To free the captives from the pit,

Will take much more than flesh and wit,

Only the Lord can change their lives,

And has sent us to give them life.

What greater calling is there than this?

It is a chance we cannot miss!

To free them from their misery,

What greater calling is there to thee?

Call to arms! To fight not quit!

We will go on till Satan’s grip,

Will no longer hold their souls in captivity,

We will go on in midst of adversity,

We will go on to set them free!

It is His call, “Won’t you fight for Me?”

So come on, go! Fight for the right!

Hit the punk with all your might!

It is the best thing you can do,

He has called us, I’ll go.

Will you?

My arc, halfway b-flip sorta thingy....

Heee, so here it is....it's not SUPER impressive......but just a little peek of everyday me.......

Now this is CRAZY!!! It made me afraid of soda!

What Soft Drinks Are Doing To Your Body

Soda, pop, cola, soft drink — whatever you call it, it is one of the worst beverages that you could be drinking for your health. As the debate for whether to put a tax on the sale of soft drinks continues, you should know how they affect your body so that you can make an informed choice on your own.

Soft drinks are hard on your health
Soft drinks contain little to no vitamins or other essential nutrients. However, it is what they do contain that is the problem: caffeine, carbonation, simple sugars — or worse, sugar substitutes — and often food additives such as artificial coloring, flavoring, and preservatives.

A lot of research has found that consumption of soft drinks in high quantity, especially by children, is responsible for many health problems that include tooth decay, nutritional depletion, obesity, type-2 diabetes, and heart disease.

Why the sugar in soft drinks isn’t so sweet
Most soft drinks contain a high amount of simple sugars. The USDA recommendation of sugar consumption for a 2,000-calorie diet is a daily allotment of 10 teaspoons of added sugars. Many soft drinks contain more than this amount!

Just why is too much sugar so unhealthy? Well, to start, let's talk about what happens to you as sugar enters your body. When you drink sodas that are packed with simple sugars, the pancreas is called upon to produce and release insulin, a hormone that empties the sugar in your blood stream into all the tissues and cells for usage. The result of overindulging in simple sugar is raised insulin levels. Raised blood insulin levels beyond the norm can lead to depression of the immune system, which in turn weakens your ability to fight disease.

Something else to consider is that most of the excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain and elevates risk for heart disease and cancer. One study found that when subjects were given refined sugar, their white blood cell count decreased significantly for several hours afterwards. Another study discovered that rats fed a high-sugar diet had a substantially elevated rate of breast cancer when compared to rats on a regular diet.

The health effects of diet soda
You may come to the conclusion that diet or sugar-free soda is a better choice. However, one study discovered that drinking one or more soft drinks a day — and it didn’t matter whether it was diet or regular — led to a 30% greater chance of weight gain around the belly.

Diet soda is filled with artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, sucralose, or saccharin. These artificial sweeteners pose a threat to your health. Saccharin, for instance, has been found to be carcinogenic, and studies have found that it produced bladder cancer in rats.

Aspartame, commonly known as nutrasweet, is a chemical that stimulates the brain to think the food is sweet. It breaks down into acpartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol at a temperature of 86 degrees. (Remember, your stomach is somewhere around 98 degrees.) An article put out by the University of Texas found that aspartame has been linked to obesity. The process of stimulating the brain causes more cravings for sweets and leads to carbohydrate loading.

Carbonation depletes calcium
Beverages with bubbles contain phosphoric acid, which can severely deplete the blood calcium levels; calcium is a key component of the bone matrix. With less concentration of calcium over a long time, it can lower deposition rates so that bone mass and density suffer. This means that drinking sodas and carbonated water increases your risk of osteoporosis.

Add in the caffeine usually present in soft drinks, and you are in for even more trouble. Caffeine can deplete the body’s calcium, in addition to stimulating your central nervous system and contributing to stress, a racing mind, and insomnia.

Skip the soda and go for:

• Fresh water

Water is a vital beverage for good health. Each and every cell needs water to perform its essential functions. Since studies show that tap water is filled with contaminants, antibiotics, and a number of other unhealthy substances, consider investing in a quality carbon-based filter for your tap water.

On the go? Try using a stainless steel thermos or glass bottle, filled with filtered water. Enhance the flavor of your water with a refreshing infusion of basil, mint leaves, and a drop of honey.

• Fruit Juice
If you are a juice drinker, try watering down your juice to cut back on the sugar content. Buy a jar of organic 100% juice, especially cranberry, acai, pomegranate, and then dilute three parts filtered water to one part juice. You will get a subtle sweet taste and the benefit of antioxidants. After a couple of weeks, you will no longer miss the sweetness of sugary concentrated juices.

• Tea
Tea gently lifts your energy and has numerous health benefits. Black, green, white, and oolong teas all contain antioxidant polyphenols. In fact, tea ranks as high or higher than many fruits and vegetables on the ORAC scale, the score that measures antioxidant potential of plant-based foods.

Herbal tea does not have the same antioxidant properties, though it is still a great beverage choice with other health benefits, such as inducing calming and relaxing effects.

If tea doesn’t satisfy your sweet tooth, try adding cinnamon or a little honey, which has important health benefits that refined sugar lacks. Drink up!

I hope you find the ways and means to avoid soft drinks. I invite you to visit often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me.

May you live long, live strong, and live happy!

I don't know, I thought this was interesting to know......

New Year's Weight Loss: 6 Tips
It is a time-honored tradition to make resolutions at this time of year. If your resolution is to lose weight - and keep it off, then keep reading! Here are six simple tips that will have you losing weight in a balanced and healthy way.

1. Lose weight with water.
Water is essential for everybody - it is also the key to losing weight. If you haven't been drinking enough water, your body has developed a pattern of storing water. This water retention equals extra unwanted weight.

By drinking more water, you are not only flushing out toxins, you are also teaching your body that it no longer needs to store water. Drink at least 60 ounces of water (about 8 glasses) a day. Boil water and sliced lemons, and drink this throughout the day to help with fluid retention. If you are still not sold on the merits of water, try this on for size: water is a natural appetite suppressant.

2. Soup up your weight loss program.
A simple dietary change will have you shedding pounds: eat a bowl of soup at least once a day. Nutritious, low-salt soups will nourish you as they flush waste from your body. People who eat a serving of soup daily lose more weight than those who eat the same amount of calories but don't eat soup. Go for homemade soup whenever possible, as canned soups are loaded with salt and chemicals.

3. Eat early to keep weight off.
The human body follows a circadian rhythm, which means that the same foods eaten at breakfast and lunch are processed differently than when eaten at dinner. Studies show that when you eat your daily protein and fat at breakfast you tend to lose weight and have more energy; however, eating the same things at dinner tend to increase tendencies toward weight gain. I suggest that you eat your last meal of the day by 7 p.m.

4. Eat smaller meals, more frequently.
Follow an eating schedule with five little meals every day. Eating steadily through the day keeps you from becoming famished and overeating at your next meal. Make a low-fat trail mix from raw almonds, pumpkin seeds, dried plum, and apples and have it available at all times to avoid the tempting lure of high-calorie snacks.

5. Adopt a balanced approach to your diet.
Most of the fad diet programs out there nowadays are extreme in a few recommended foods, or else deprive the body of food altogether. This works in opposition to our metabolism and the results usually don't last, producing a yoyo effect that depresses your metabolic function - not to mention your self-esteem. We are natural beings that need a balance of nutrition from all sources.

Your diet should consist of a balance of organic sources of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, legumes, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. Instead of white rice and pasta, opt for brown rice, bulgur, millet, or buckwheat.

Eat more green, chlorophyll-rich foods such as broccoli, kale, spinach, and asparagus. Eliminate candy, sugar, soda, and all simple sugars from your diet. Excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain. Also, keep dairy to a minimum because most dairy products are high in saturated fat. Avoid fatty foods, processed or fried foods.

6. Walk off the weight.
The No. 1 cause of weight gain is inactivity. Physical activity is the key to speeding up your metabolism and burning excess calories. The best way to be physically active is to use your legs! Walk as often and as long as you can. Always take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Step outside during your break at work and take a walk around your building. Consider joining a local hiking club. Try taking a walk 30 minutes in the morning or 30 minutes in the early evening.

I hope this article helps you shed some pounds and add on the years! I invite you to visit often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me.

May you live long, live strong, and live happy!

Good catch! Olive Branch toddler helps in delivery of baby brother

This story is super neat! Read it!

It was like he knew what to do,' mom says of son, 2

Good catch! Olive Branch toddler helps in delivery of baby brother

When Bobbye Favazza went into labor, 2-year-old Jeremiha Taylor didn't miss a beat, grabbing a towel and catching baby Kamron after Mom pushed. Jamison, 3, was also home.

Two-year-old Jeremiha Taylor doesn't have to ask his mother where babies come from -- he helped deliver his little brother at the foot of his family's living room couch.

"He's my little hero," Jeremiha's mom, Bobbye Favazza, 27, of Olive Branch, said Tuesday. "It was like he knew what to do."

Favazza gave birth to a 7-pound, 4-ounce baby boy, Kamron Taylor, on Friday morning. Firefighters arrived moments later to cut the umbilical cord.

Greg Mynatt, an emergency services supervisor with the city, said the 911 call about Favazza was probably the third this year about a woman in labor, but usually the mother makes it to the hospital before delivery.

Even rarer is a child assisting with delivery. Mynatt did not recall it ever happening here.

"This would probably be the first," he said.

Jeremiha can count to five, feed himself and go to the potty himself. He communicates in short sentences.

Of course, nothing about his brief childhood had prepared him to assist in delivering a baby, but Favazza said that of her four children, Jeremiha is the bold one, the one who "will try anything."

Favazza had made proper plans. Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto was expecting her -- on Dec. 6, for her fourth caesarian section -- not on Friday the 13th.

Looking back, Favazza realized she was in labor all through the night before the birth, but she did not realize it at the time. The discomfort was minor compared to the labor pains she remembered before giving birth to her sons, ages 2 and 3, and daughter, 5.

On Friday morning, Favazza complained to her mother, Leigh Favazza, about the pain, but neither woman believed delivery was imminent.

Leigh Favazza considered taking the day off from her sales job if indeed her daughter was going to give birth, but first she had to get her granddaughter, Keely Taylor, settled at school.

Leigh Favazza left the house to take the 5-year-old to the bus stop at the end of Maury Drive, then she headed for Olive Branch Elementary School to drop off snacks for her granddaughter's classroom. While en route, Bobbye Favazza called.

"Mom, I'm having the baby," Bobbye Favazza said.

Leigh Favazza hung up and called 911. It was 8:26 a.m. She was frantic. Her daughter was alone in the house with a 2-year-old, a 3-year-old, a bull mastiff and a poodle and her water had just broken.

Bobbye Favazza's oldest son, 3-year-old Jamison Taylor, had awakened to discover his mother bleeding and in pain.

"He sat on the couch right here and cried," Bobbye Favazza said. "He was terrified. He's my emotional one."

The 2-year-old was calm.

"I laid on the couch and he went and got a towel," Bobbye Favazza said. "He grabbed a towel on his own.

"It happened so fast. My water broke and the baby came two to three minutes later. I just pushed and he caught him."

Bobbye Favazza said she held her baby, still attached to her by the cord, as she walked a few feet to unlock the front door for emergency personnel. They cut the cord.

Jeremiha, quizzed about the birth of his brother, can point to the spot at the end of the couch where Kamron Taylor was born.

"Over there," he said.

"Sometimes these things happen, especially to mothers who've had multiple births," said Mynatt, the city's emergency services supervisor. "The time gets less and less with each delivery."

Mother and son were discharged from Baptist-DeSoto. Neither suffered any complications.

"I've had three," said Leigh Favazza, the proud grandmother, "and I can't imagine having any of them like this."

Score Flat Abs Without Sit-Ups

Everyone wants a tight, toned tummy but few of us were genetically gifted a six-pack. Fortunately, we all do have abs—they're just covered up! It's in your power to create a sexy, sculpted stomach, even if it's not in your genes. The secret? Core-focused, fat-blasting cardio blitzes coupled with muscle-defining strength sessions.
Optimally try to fit in five sweat sessions a week and cut 500 calories a day from your diet to shed about 2 pounds a week, including stubborn belly pudge!
Can’t manage to find that much time? Fine! Think of doing half as many workouts while still eating 500 calories fewer a day-you'll lose at least 1 pound a week. Use these 20-, 40- and 60-minute firm-abs workouts to help you reach the magic number and melt away your middle. Add in two weekly strength sessions designed to reveal sexy muscles head to toe. Grab a pair of 5- to 10-pound weights, do two sets of these simple sculptors, and watch your pooch skooch!
MOVE 1: Magic multitasker Stand with feet hip-width apart. Lunge forward with left leg as you reach right arm forward, left arm back. Return to standing, twisting torso to right as you drive right knee and left elbow toward chest, right arm extended back, for one rep. Do 10 reps. Switch sides; repeat.
MOVE 2: Waist whittler Start in push-up position, legs together and extended behind you. Rotate and lower hips to left, letting feet shift so they’re stacked, then rotate back to center, then to right, for one rep. Do two sets of 10 reps.
MOVE 3: Back strengthener Stand with feet staggered, left foot in front of right, right heel lifted, left knee slightly bent. Balancing on left leg, tilt torso forward until you feel a deep stretch in hamstrings, letting hands hang toward floor for balance. Return to upright position. Do 10 reps. Switch sides; repeat.
MOVE 4: Squat supreme Stand with feet wider than hip-width apart, toes turned out; hold a weight in each hand in front of body, palms facing out. Rise onto balls of feet. Squat, then, staying on tiptoe throughout, stand, curling weights toward chest, for one rep. Do two sets of 10 reps.
MOVE 5: Lower-body blast Stand with feet hip-width apart, knees soft, arms down. Step left foot back and to right, lowering into a curtsy lunge, until right thigh is almost parallel to floor, as you reach arms across body to right. Return to standing as you kick flexed left foot to left at hip height, reversing arms, for one rep. Do 10 reps. Switch sides; repeat.
MOVE 6: Allover accentuator Start in push-up position. Lift hips to ceiling so body forms an inverted V with legs extended, heels raised and arms straight (Downward Dog). Bend elbows and scoop forward until hovering above floor with back arched and chin lifted (Upward Dog). Return to Downward Dog for one rep. Do two sets of 10 reps.
MOVE 7: Tummy tamerLie faceup on bench with legs together and extended toward ceiling; hold bench for support. Contract abs and lower legs until hovering above bench, then raise legs and curl hips off bench as high as you can, reaching toes to ceiling. Slowly lower hips and legs for one rep. Do two sets of 10 reps.
MOVE 8: Arm-flab fighter Sit on edge of bench, hands at front of seat, fingers forward, knees bent 90 degrees. Use arms to lift yourself off bench. Place right hand on right knee; extend left leg in line with hip. Lower body until left elbow is bent almost 90 degrees. Straighten left arm for one rep. Do 10 reps. Switch sides; repeat.

Here and there....this is from me!

Yeah, I know..... sorry I haven't posted in ages here.... it's just that things have been sooooo busy!
Yep, you got that right!
We are leaving in just two days.....TWO DAYS!!! I mean, how freaky is that? I just can't get it into my head that we are moving...... so, being the smart girl I am, haha, I decided to just make myself think that these are just going to be very loooooong vacations! Smart huh? So once I get it into my head that we are not coming back, I think slowly my mind will accept we are not in Juarez anymore!
One thing I will miss very much of Juarez is: #1, all the good friends we have here; #2, the home; and #3.....S-MART!!!!! Yeah, that place comes pretty handy once in a while.......
Now, don't get me wrong, I am excited to be moving, just that it is hard for me to imagine myself living anywhere else that is not Juarez!.....yeah, I guess that after 10 years it gets to you, ha!

Well, anyway, today is going to be Victoria's birthday so in the afternoon everyone is going to be all nice, handsome, and pretty, soooo (thanks to Meg's great idea!) I am going to do a lil' video tour around the house, filming the people I have been living with, our dogs, pets, etc.... you get the picture..... and in just a few minutes me and Misty are going to go do our Garage Sale. Yep, you heard right, we are having a Garage Sale! Yesterday it went pretty good, thank the Lord, and the Hall family for lending us their house... if it hadn't been for them, nobody would have been able to even see the sale! haha

So for now I'll just wrap it up, (get it? wrap it up? haha.....okay, never mind....) and leave you to your busines.
Stay tuned for the exciting video!
Love, and yours truly.....
well...You know who...

Instant Ab Flatteners

Achieving a toned, sexy tummy might seem like a pipe dream this time of year. Baggy sweaters abound, egg nog is served and Frosty the Snowman doesn't offer much in the way of flat-belly inspiration. But getting a sleek, sexy stomach is easier than you think. Spend just five minutes a day on toning your abs and you'll get an amazing middle.

We rounded up five of the most effective tummy toners around. Work three or four of these exercises into your routine (easing them in will minimize soreness). Do the number of reps indicated, resting one minute between moves. The only equipment you will need is a hand towel. Washboard abs, here you come!

Pike 90
Lie faceup; raise legs until perpendicular to floor, feet flexed. Lower right leg so it hovers 1 or 2 inches off floor and place hands lightly behind head. In this position, do 15 crunches, lifting chest toward ceiling and lowering. Switch legs and repeat.

Crunchy frog
Sit with knees bent, feet flat. Keeping legs together, raise feet several inches and bring knees toward chest. Wrap arms around knees without touching legs. Extend legs and stretch arms to sides, palms forward. Return to wrapped-arm position; repeat. Do 15 reps.

Tornado
Stand with feet hip-width apart, right leg in front of left, right foot turned out. Bend elbows and raise arms out to sides at shoulder level (like goalposts). In one motion, raise right knee to lowered right elbow. Return to start; switch sides and repeat to complete one rep. Do 15 reps.

Corkscrew
Lie faceup. Press legs together and raise them toward ceiling until they're at a 90-degree angle, with knees slightly bent and toes pointed. Raise butt and legs off floor using ab muscles; twist legs slightly to left. Repeat, twisting to right, for one rep. Do 15 reps.

Side arm balance
Start on floor on knees. Lean to left and place left hand on floor under shoulder; extend right arm up and to left, palm down. Straighten right legs out to right with foot on floor, resting on left knee. Hold for 5 breaths. Return to start; switch sides. Repeat twice per side.

An attitude of Thankfulness, please take time to read it!

You know, it’s amazing how many of the little things we see each day or that we have just don’t seem very important and not worthy of being thankful of, but if we would just stop and see how many things the Lord has blessed us with we would see how truly rich we are. Just imagine how we would do without a certain thing.

It is very amazing how many things in life we take for granted and don’t truly appreciate, don’t you think?

How about each of you that read this post take some time today to really take a look of all that you have and that the Lord has blessed you with.

Here I am going to post some of mine, and maybe give you an idea of how richly we are all blessed.

  • I have a perfectly healthy body that heals by itself or with little help, (Many, many are seriously sick or not 100% normal)
  • I have two very good eyes=I can see, (Many people are blind!)
  • I have two arms and hands in perfectly good condition, (Some people don’t have any.)
  • I have two strong legs and feet, (Many people can’t walk)
  • I can hear, (Many people don’t get to enjoy hearing their loved one’s voice.)
  • I can talk, sing and laugh, (Many people can’t)
  • I have very good teeth, (Many people don’t have that privilege.)
  • I can move! (Many people are paralytic!)
  • I have two wonderful parents (Many people are orphans.),
  • I have three great sisters, (Many kids are lonely.)
  • I have plenty of food, (Many people are starving),
  • I have a house and a nice warm bed, (Many people live without a home and bed)
  • A nice clean bathroom, (Many people have to use an outhouse or just wherever)
  • A shower, soap and running water (Many people have to hawl water from far away for everyday needs)
  • Nice warm/cool clothes (many people suffer cold or don’t have any)
  • Good teachers, books, and school supplies (Many children and adults don’t even know how to read)
  • Wonderful friends, (Many people are lonely)
  • I have two cute pets (Many people can’t afford one)
  • A good car, (Many people don’t count with one)
  • A TV, video player, mp3, laptop, watch, jewelry, cosmetics, (For many this is an unreachable luxury)
  • I am a missionary (Many people don’t have a life worth living for)
  • I have SALVATION and know I am forgiven and will go to heaven, (Many people don’t have this hope to look forward too)
  • And most important of all, I have JESUS, (Many, many people don’t count with his love, mercy and forgiveness)

Just think for a moment how trully rich you are and thank the Lord for all you have, remember that many people don’t count with all that you are blessed with everyday!

Laughter, good for your health!

Laughter has very positive effects on the heart, lungs and even a few muscles. These are the motives for this affirmation:

  • Laughing approximately 100 times a day has the same cardiovascular effect that a rowing exercise will for ten minutes.
  • Twenty seconds of laughter equal to three minutes of constant fiscal exercise in a gymnasium.
  • While laughing, the muscles of the face, thorax, and abdomen contract and release at a great speed, bettering their muscular toning.
  • When we cry of laughter, the heart increases its frequency and is capable of pulsating 140 to 210 milliliters of blood a minute, while the normal rate is 70.
  • In the same circumstance, the lungs double in their work of breathing air (12 liters instead of the normal 6) which contributes to a better oxygenation in our body.
  • laughter is a metabolic activity which provokes the liberation of adrenaline, favoring calorie loss.
  • Every time we laugh, our eyes acquire a characteristic shine and increase tear, urine, and saliva secretion, which are regulated by the nervous system.

SO LAUGH! SHOW THAT BEAUTIFUL SMILE OF YOURS! YOU WILL FEEL, LOOK AND BE HEALTHIER!
